Mindful meditation classes

Friday 7.30pm at the St Patrick's Catholic Church in Seddon Street, Pukekohe

A non-denominational mindful meditation classes in a supportive space and environment.  No experience necessary.

The techniques used are similar to those used in mindfulness exercises and is suitable for anyone who has been involved in mindfulness training or complete beginners. This is a great, supportive and relaxed environment to help you with your meditation practice (or even just to learn what it is all about!)

For 2016 there will be six week rotations with a different theme each week. Next rotation will begin on March 3rd.

Mindful Meditation week structure

Week One - March 3rd

Introduction – sitting, types of meditation, focusing and practicing on the breath, introduction to the gong, brief history of meditation and mindfulness, health benefits, half smile, research to support mindfulness / meditation

Week Two - March 10th

Mindful Body – Observing body sensations, noticing, labeling, awareness, movement

Week Three - March 17th

Mindful Mind – Observing the mind – feelings, thoughts, emotions, sensations, labeling

Week Four - March 24th

Mindful movement – walking mindfully

Week Five - March 31st

Mindful Compassion / Kindness to Self and others

Week Six - April 7th

Mindful Eating - focusing on what and how you eat

*** Please note - I am not a 'mindfulness' or 'meditation' teacher as such - I do not have a certificate to teach mindfulness. I have undergone training in MBSR (Mindful Based Stress Reduction) for Health Professionals, Mindful Training for Health and Health Related Professionals, have attended meditation (up to 10 day) silent retreats. This knowledge that I share is based on these teachings, my own experience of meditation and mindful practice over a period of approx 20 years and my following of teachers such as Jack Kornfield, Pema Chodron, Jon Kabat-Zinn and Thich Nhat Hanh. This is very much about creating a space for people to learn, practice and discuss mindfulness and meditation as this was not available in this area.***
