I want you to soften up

Are you particularly hard on yourself?

Are you always striving to achieve?

Do you hate failing?

Are you trying so hard all the time?

Are you tired - but continue to push through?

Do you work twice as hard at the gym (or elsewhere) because you feel you have to?

Are you constantly trying to prove to yourself or others your worth?

Do you speak to yourself unkindly?

Here is what I want from you:

I want you to soften up.

I want you to let go. I want you to rest your weary limbs. I want you to lay down on the cool grass. I want you to trade in your gym hour for a nap hour. I want you to let your shoulders fall, your head rest and your eyes close.

Life is not about doing more.

People talk about pushing through, working hard, achieving more. Striving. Doing.

I’m for letting go, working softly, breathing gently. I’m all for not reaching the top, being okay with doing half the job, saying no, sleeping in, early nights and lazy days.

Life is not a race. It’s about enjoying the moments - not breaking oneself trying to get to some odd place determined by someone else.

Be okay with where you are. Be okay with being average. Be okay with being the slow one. Be the one that finishes last but with grace and comfort and total joy with who you are.

I want you to soften up.
